Curriculum
At PS154, we use Engage NY/Eureka math curriculum in all grades. This curriculum builds conceptual understanding through a thoughtful trajectory of concrete to representational to abstract models, and many of the same models recur through the grades and across concepts. Engage also aims to build fluency and confidence through the integration of fluency sprints, in which students are motivated by personal goals, and get immediate positive growth feedback. Zearn is a digital learning platform that is aligned with the Engage sequencing; the Zearn “Missions” are the same as the Engage modules. Every PS154 student has a Zearn account, and they were given log-in credentials cards. One of the most helpful features in Zearn is the “Math Talks” where an educator guides you through an interactive lesson. We encourage families to take advantage of the Zearn resources for extra practice and concept reinforcement.
